Springtime is a
good time for Dress Policy Reminder
The arrival of spring means it is time to
put away those wool pants, boots and other
“wintry” clothes. It may also be a great time
to remind employees about work place dress standards and
re-state what it acceptable attire. Trends of business
casual, Jeans Days, Friday Dress-Down Days, and Special
Events dress themes have made “what and when to wear
it” an increasingly more complicated and sometimes
controversial subject.
Appropriate dress, appearance,
and grooming are essential to a successful business
operation. Inappropriate dress may result in workplace
distractions, employee ill will, and poor messages to
customer or clients about the business.
An employer dress and appearance policy
should be communicated on occasion to remind employees of
work place standards. A regular or seasonal based
communication may reduce the likelihood of inappropriate
dress occurring or individual employees being singled for
what they are wearing.
